Ivor Chipkin is a leading scholar of government and public policy in South Africa and internationally.
He has held senior positions in the field and was involved in key moments of policy development in the transition from Apartheid. He received his Phd in France at the Ecole Normale Superieure and was an Oppenheimer Fellow at St Anthony’s college at Oxford.
He has contributed to the understanding of corruption in the global South and has a deep practical experience in devising measures to combat it. He was one of the main authors of the Betrayal of the Promise report, the first major study of State Capture in South Africa.
He has recently developed new approaches to monitoring and forecasting organisational capacity, bridging social science and Big Data analysis in the policy field.
