Dr. Rommy Morales

Rommy Morales-Olivares is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Economics in the University of Barcelona, and Postdoctoral Researcher in Wits School of Governance in the University of the Witwatersrand.

She has a PhD in Socioeconomics and Statistical Studies, Doctor in Sociology (Cum Laude) from the University of Barcelona, Master in Applied Social Research (2012) from the University Autonoma of Barcelona, Postgraduate in Democracy and Diversity Studies (2013) from the New School of Social Research in New York, Master’s Degree in Applied Economics (2009) from Georgetown University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology (2006), from the University Alberto Hurtado (Chile).

Her professional experience is mainly focused on Economic Development, Public Policies, Gender Equality and Comparative Analysis, and aims to develop institutional and specially comparative thinking in the public policy environment, in post-conflict and post-colonial transitions.
Rommy used to be Senior Consultant for ECLAC, Consultant in the United Nations (UNDP Chile), Barcelona and Public Organisms of Chile, and Researcher at TRAMOD Project, funded by the European Research Council Advanced Grant.
